Coach Selection – What Sets Us Apart

What Sets Us Apart

Our camp stands out thanks to a strict coach selection system and a unique approach to injury care. The continuous presence of a physiotherapist is a rare feature in other camps. In addition, this is the only basketball camp in Latvia that actively attracts international participants, creating a diverse and enriching training environment for everyone involved.

5-Star Coach Selection Criteria*

  • Experience as a head coach or assistant coach of a youth or senior national team
  • Proven dedication to youth basketball development throughout their career
  • Experience working in a professional basketball club
  • Background as a professional basketball player
  • At least 10 years of coaching experience

*The minimum requirement for our coaches is four stars, but most meet all five criteria!

Camp History

Elite Camps began in 2022 and has been continuously evolving each year. We are constantly improving the program, attracting top-level coaches, and ensuring a high-quality environment while increasing the number of participants without compromising quality. In 2024, the camp hosted over 150 participants, including players from 9 different European countries, establishing it as an internationally recognized basketball training camp.

Goal

Our goal is to become one of the largest and most prestigious basketball camps in the region, gathering hundreds of talented players from Latvia and abroad each year. In the near future, we plan to expand the camp’s capacity to provide young athletes the opportunity to train at the highest level every week throughout the summer.

Latvian Basketball – A Small Nation, Big Achievements

With just 1.9 million inhabitants, Latvia is one of the few countries that consistently develops players capable of competing at the highest level. The strength of Latvian basketball is reflected in the current FIBA Men’s World Ranking (2025), where Latvia holds an impressive 9th place – ahead of many larger and more resourced nations.

Over the past 10 years, more than 15 Latvian players have competed in the NBA and EuroLeague. The most well-known among them is Kristaps Porziņģis, an NBA champion and one of the most recognized Latvian athletes globally.

In 2021, the Latvian 3x3 national team became Olympic champions in Tokyo.

In 2023, the Latvian men's 5x5 team made its debut at the FIBA World Cup, finishing in 5th place and defeating basketball powerhouses such as France and Spain.

At the youth level, Latvia consistently competes in the A Division of the European Championships for both boys and girls. Over the past decade, our youth national teams have regularly ranked among Europe’s Top 16, placing Latvia alongside basketball nations such as Lithuania, Serbia, and Spain.

Elite Camps continues this legacy – providing an environment where talented young athletes can train, learn, and grow at an international level.
